The Koetter Group is proud to announce our collaboration with RD1 Spirits in the construction of state-of-the-art rickhouses that support RD1’s immersive brand destination in the heart of Lexington, Kentucky.
The new facilities, built using the industry-leading KRAX rickhouse system, mark a milestone in both engineering innovation and bourbon tourism infrastructure. This partnership reflects The Koetter Group’s continued commitment to craftsmanship, structural integrity, and building solutions that serve Kentucky’s most iconic industries.
RD1 Spirits unveiled their expanded brand campus in May 2025, introducing a first-of-its-kind destination experience that includes a modern tasting room, historic mashbill storytelling, and a dynamic glimpse into the future of bourbon aging and storage. The new rickhouses—engineered and constructed in partnership with Koetter—are designed to maximize airflow, aging consistency, and long-term durability using the patented KRAX steel-frame system.
The KRAX system, developed with efficiency, scalability, and safety in mind, enables faster construction timelines without compromising the traditional bourbon-aging process. For Koetter and RD1, this project is not just about building rickhouses—it’s about preserving a legacy while investing in the future of Kentucky bourbon.
