Behind the Build: Whiskey House of Kentucky’s First Seven-Story K RAX® Rickhouse

April 28, 2026

The Koetter Group is proud to share a behind-the-scenes look at the construction of Whiskey House of Kentucky’s first seven-story KRAX® rickhouse in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. The timelapse captures the scale, coordination, and craftsmanship behind a landmark barrel storage project designed to advance whiskey maturation, worker safety, airflow, and long term structural performance.

This first warehouse is part of a larger partnership between Whiskey House of Kentucky and The Koetter Group to construct 12 state-of-the-art rickhouses over the next decade. Each warehouse is designed to hold more than 48,000 barrels and incorporates Koetter’s innovative KRAX® barrel storage system, including full-length venting, continuous perimeter floor vents, improved walkways, fall protection, and engineered materials built for durability and precision. The first seven-story warehouse was completed one month ahead of schedule, marking an important milestone for Whiskey House’s growing Elizabethtown campus and for the future of American whiskey storage.
