Louisville, KY — September 17, 2025 — The Koetter Group is proud to serve as construction partner in the groundbreaking of Hosparus Health’s new inpatient facility, a landmark project that will expand critical end-of-life care resources for families, the region’s first and only standalone inpatient hospice facility, following the successful achievement of its $9.2 million fundraising goal by raising nearly $9.6 million to launch construction.
The Hospice Care Center is being constructed next to the Harshaw Family Grief Counseling Center, located at 3532 Ephraim McDowell Dr. in Louisville, which opened in 2024. Together, the two facilities will form a comprehensive campus of care, designed to meet families’ physical, emotional, and spiritual needs throughout serious illness and loss.
The $20 million project is funded primarily through philanthropy, and generous early support has made the groundbreaking possible. Milestone gifts have propelled the campaign forward, including support from Republic Bank and the Republic Bank Foundation, Norton Healthcare, Paula and Frank Harshaw, and the Legacy Foundation of Kentuckiana.
The Hospice Care Center is a critical expansion of compassionate end-of-life care for families across the region. Designed to serve patients with complex needs in a peaceful, homelike setting, the nearly 30,000-square-foot facility will offer 21 private patient suites, family gathering spaces, a chapel, and serene gardens for quiet reflection.
“When families can no longer care for a loved one at home, this facility will offer a supportive space that blends expert care with dignity and comfort,” said David W. Cook, President and CEO of Hosparus Health. “We’re grateful to our community for making this vision a reality—and for helping us take the first step toward delivering on our promise to meet patients and families where they are, with compassion and respect.”
